In urban combat scenarios, field commanders need to know the location of their personnel at all times, not only for potential rescue scenarios, but also to avoid friendly-fire casualties. The movements and position of NAViSEER-equipped personnel can be tracked at all times - even within buildings or tunnels or caves. The NAViSEER is carried in the combat vest positioned against the lower back and attached to the radio on each soldier.

A pulse is set to send current location/position data back to Command and Control (C2) - normally every 3 seconds, but also user configurable. NAViSEER uses the back-channel signal on the radio to communicate current position back to our SEER3D software asset-tracking application running at C2.

All movements of tracked personnel, even if they are within a building, tunnel, a cave, or other GPS-denied area, are tracked real time. If radio communications are lost for any reason the last known good position of the soldier is known - and NAViSEER continues to log the user position and track that data which can later be uploaded to C2 if radio communications are restored.
